When to use Kindle Serial Number?

If you have an E-Ink Kindle device, like Kindle Touch, Kindle Paperwhite, etc., and the books you want to decrypt are directly transferred from the E-Ink Kindle device, then you can use the Kindle's Serial Number for removing DRM.

Notice: If your books are synced via Kindle for PC/Mac, do NOT input any Kindle Serial Number or PID for removing DRM, which would cause the failure.

1. Find the serial number of your Kindle device

Open web browser and visit Amazon official site then login, navigate to 'Manage Your Kindle' page.

Look at the left column and find 'Manage Your Devices', click it you will see all your registered Kindle devices and apps in the main part of the web page.

Choose the correct device which you export the Kindle books from then you can get the details below, including device type and serial number. This is what we need.

2. Use Kindle's Serial Number to remove DRM

Here is the key-step, don't directly load books into the program, instead please click 'Quick Settings' at first and you will see the information below.

Click 'Use Kindle Serial Number (or PIDs)' and input your Kindle's serial number in the blank, we've already got the number in step 2. And please delete the space between each group of digits.

3. Load Kindle books into the program

You can directly load books from Kindle's storage drive. The safer way is copy the books to local hard drive at first, then load them into the software.

Once the books are loaded, they will be decrypted automatically.
