  • Mac Pro: Any Citrix Workspace version on Big Sur causes Illegal Instruction Exception and crash (Big Sur) Asked by Ahmed Mian Syed, Thursday at 10:42 AM. I updated Citrix workspace app from 1909 to 1912 on some machines that also had Citrix Virtual apps and Desktops (for remote workers). Some users that use Citrix Remote PC (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912) are no longer able to connect to their machines. Remote PC appears to want to launch but then just disappears. This document outlines the process to install the Citrix Workspace App for a Mac computer. The Citrix Workspace app runs the Virtual Applications & Desktops and must be installed on your computer for them to work.

    • TIP: Many StreetSmart Edge® menu items are available by right-clicking in the software. To right-click using a single-button Mac mouse, press and hold the CTRL button when you click. There may be additional methods found in the preferences of the device you use (Trackpad, Mighty Mouse, laptop touch pad, etc.).
    • Currently using the latest version, 20.12 (Citrix Workspace/Viewer) and latest Big Sur on a Mac mini M1. I was told that our Citrix server did not support 3440x1440 resolution, but this appears to be not the case because I've been able to have my monitor's native resolution work a few times, both with MS Edge and with Safari.

Workspace app for MAC introduced support for HDX Webcam redirection for 64-bit apps, and hence support Teams.
Older versions do not support MS Teams for Webcam redirection.
    We are currently working on
Teams Optimization Pack (contact your Account Manager to get access to EAR) - this technology would allow the Webcam to be accessed directly by the WebRTC media engine in Workspace app.

Citrix Receiver (now renamed Citrix Workspace) is client software that allows users to connect virtualized desktops and apps from their end devices. Because of notoriously complex infrastructure, tasks such as uninstalling Citrix Receiver on Mac can be a challenging undertaking.

Just like typical applications, Citrix Receiver has a special uninstallation script that directs the removal process. While you would expect the uninstallation process to remove the right files and all the registry entries—this is usually not the case with Citrix Receiver. Sometimes, the process can go wrong; for instance, “Follow Me Data” files can be left behind due to unexpected error(s).

Follow the steps below to uninstall Citrix Receiver on Mac device:

    1. Locate the “.dmg” file and double-click on it. In this case, the “.dmg” file refers to the file you downloaded from Citrix when installing Citrix Receiver for the first time. In case you can’t locate it, point your browser to Citrix Downloads to download it again.
    1. Click the “Uninstall Citrix Workspace App.”
    1. Follow the on-screen steps to finish the uninstallation process.
    1. Reboot your system after uninstalling Citrix Receiver on Mac.
